Daniel Chikwaza, Samsung Ziki Stars Winner

The second edition of Samsung Ziki Stars, a Galaxy Music sponsored talent search competition, has finally come to an end and the winner announced at an event at Skyluxx last Saturday. Daniel Chikwaza, a second year communication student at Daystar University emerged the winner. He won a fully sponsored single and one video courtesy of Samsung Electronics East Africa. Daniel will immediately head to the studio to work on his first single and video under the mentorship of Kevin Wyre who is the Samsung’s Brand Ambassador.

Elizabeth Rege was the second runners-up while Halima Nsangou was the first runners-up. Young Noiz won the judges award for his boom boxing talent earning himself a one off opportunity to record with Dan ‘Chizi’ Aceda and music producer Chris Adwar.

The competition took place over a period of three weeks of intensive auditions and across three universities i.e. Kenyatta University, USIU and Daystar University. In the final, there were 7 contestants. Kenyatta University was represnted by Lensa Alila and Maureen Kanana, Daystar University by Daniel Chikwaza and Young Noiz and USIU by Elizabeth Rege, Halima Nsangou and Lisa Mugera.

Samsung Ziki Stars was launched in 2011 and Lyra Aoko was the first winner of the competition.
