Safaricom has today has today launched online business solutions that will enable SMEs to access software they need to run their businesses at an affordable cost on the Safaricom Cloud.

The solutions will be available anywhere there is an internet connection. The services include access to a Website, professional email, HR Payroll software and accounting software.

The accounting software; Sage Pastel, will allow SMEs to generate professional financial reports which they can use to borrow loans from financial institutions.

The payroll solution; Cleanbill, is designed to ease and professionalise payroll management by automatically tabulate all statutory deductions from the employees and keeping relevant records.

Sylvia Mulinge had this to say at the launch “Software as a service is a solution that will provide SMEs with an affordable, safe and secure method of storing and managing their data. Presently, many SMEs find the cost of data management such as the purchase of genuine software and servers as well as the hire of professionals prohibitive.” she said.

The services Safaricom Cloud will be providing include;

1. Web Hosting

This service will allow users to create and manage domains and provide web hosting. Users will also be able to create and manage personalized email accounts.

2. Online Payroll

This service has been developed in conjunction with Cleanbill, a Kenyan online business applications company. development house. The service manages payroll processing including statutory deductions, management of leave days, tax reliefs and loan management.

The accounting solution is by Sage Pastel and it handles buying, selling & inventory management as well as providing a comprehensive set of reporting tools for both financial and management accounting.
