Airtel Kenya have today announced that all their customers have to register their lines afresh. This is because they want to comply with the Kenya Information and Communications (Registration of SlM-cards) Regulations 2015. The new directive affects both prepaid and postpaid customers.

Customers are required to go to an Airtel shop with their original ID or passport to register their lines. Lines that will not have been registered by 14th February will be switched off.

This exercise might cause Airtel to drop some customers in the short run as not all will register on time. Airtel has said that it will send sms’s to clients and use its partners to communicate the need for registration.
