Kenyan rapper Xtatic (real name Gloria Mecheo) took to Social Media to complain about Sony Music Entertainment’s delay of the release of her album 4 years after she delivered it. She was signed by Sony in 2012 and delivered the songs to her album in the same year but to date her album has never been released.
She shared her thoughts on the matter when it was announced recently that Ali Kiba had been signed by Sony. She also gave examples of her labelmates Rose Muhando and Keko whose albums have also been delayed by the music label.
Xtatic’s career trajectory is stunted because despite being signed by a major label, she cannot release music or advance her career if they are not supporting her. Let’s hope the same fate does not befell Ali Kiba who is currently doing very well with hits such as Mwana.
