Kenyan music band Sauti Sol has been nominated in two categories in the MTV Africa Music Awards 2016 (MAMA 2016). They are among fifty nominees in 9 categories and from 18 countries that were announced in the first round of nominations.

The second round of nominations which will have 7 categories namely: Artist of the Year, Best Female, Listener’s Choice, Best Breakthrough, Best Francophone, Song of the Year in partnership with Google, and Video of the Year, will be announced on 2nd October 2016.

Voting is open for categories at mtvbase.com and affiliated Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts. Additionally, fans can vote for Best Group and Best International Act from 21 September by simply searching for “MTV MAMA” on Google, with each Google account allowed 5 votes per category per day. Voting in all categories closes at 23.59 CAT on 19th October 2016.
