Kenyan Njeri Kabeberi, has been announced as the new Executive Director for Greenpeace Africa. Greenpeace Africa was founded in 1971 and is actively working in environmental justice projects in South Africa, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Senegal.

Njeri has a long history in human rights activism and is passionate about social justice and women’s rights. She is the former CEO of the Civil Society Reference Group and immediate former Executive Director of the Centre for Multiparty Democracy. She is also a member of the board of advisors of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA) and chairs the board of the International Centre for Policy and Conflict. She was also on the Board of the Kenya Human Rights Commission for many years.
