Kenyan digital agency, Bean Interactive, has won a platinum award in the AVA Digital Awards 2017 in the Information Experience category for their work on the BLAZE by Safaricom website.

The BLAZE sub-brand was created by Safaricom to cater for young people aged 26 years and below. To set up the service, customers need to access the website via mobile (cyp.blaze.co.ke) and this is the platform that Bean set up.

Bean Interactive was founded in 2009 by Martin Kiarie and Allen Kambuni (who serve as the agency’s CEO and COO respectively) and is the largest independent digital agency in Kenya. Martin had this to say about the win “The fact that as a local independent digital agency, we were the only other agency on the continent to win a Platinum award, is very validating and shows the immense creativity that resides in Kenya. I am very proud of my team for this achievement and very thankful to our client Safaricom for continuing to bring out the best in our agency. This is just the beginning and we are now challenged to continue pushing the boundaries of our creative expression.”

Martin has worked in the digital space in Kenya for more than 10 years and was recently named in the Business Daily’s Top 40 under 40 men in Kenya list. Allen is a tech enthusiast with a penchant for problem solving. Allen has been at the forefront of pioneering many revolutionary projects with global brands leading to agency recognition from the likes of Safaricom, Google and the United Nations.
