3. Use only those payment methods that you trust and are familiar with: The best way to transact is to exchange the item and payment at the same time. Don’t send money before you see the item and you are satisfied that it meets your requirements.
4. Do not share your financial information for example bank details, pin, e.t.c
If you’re a seller, it’s important to note:
1. It’s preferable to take the full payment at the time of the delivery. Even when someone asks for a down payment for commitment, do not send any money. People may ask for a down payment and disappear before delivering the goods.
2. It’s not advisable to accept cheques. Cheques can be cancelled or bounce. Payments done through cash transaction are the best option followed by mobile money transactions. The cash payment should only be used if the payment is not a lot. Don’t carry too much money as you can be set up for a robbery.
3. Verify the buyer credentials if there is a request for a bulk order. Ask for a photocopy of the ID or other documents to confirm the buyer is who is receiving the goods.
4. Get a verifiable telephone number from the buyer.
5. Ensure that your product meets the features you list in your ad post to avoid misunderstandings with buyer.
On-line selling is a two-way street. If yopu want to have a safe transaction, you have to kep yourself safe so that the other apryt does the same. Be honest and reliable. DO not cancel meetings to pick or deliver goods as you will seem dodgy.
