Safaricom Jazz festival

As we recently reported, Kenya’s biggest jazz extravaganza, the Safaricom Jazz Festival, will be going down this February. 23rd February to be exact. It will be an outdoor concert and will be held at the Ngong Racecourse. This is a first of many and Safaricom have indicated that the aim of the concert is to create a jazz loving culture in Kenya.

This year the jazz festival is dedicated to the late American jazz legend, Miles Davis.

In our opinion this concert is unmissable and here’s why we think you should attend the Safaricom Jazz Festival.

1. Top Class artists

The Safaricom Jazz Festival will bring together internationally acclaimed artistes and Kenya’s Jazz performers on one stage.

The artists performing are:

  • Richard Bona
  • Rhythm Junks
  • Yuval Cohen
  • The Nile Project
  • Aaron Rimbui
  • Jacob and Kavutha Asiyo
  • Chris Bitok
  • Eddie Grey

2. Family friendly

The Safaricom Jazz Festival will be a perfect family hangout. It will be held at the Ngong Racecourse which is roomy enough to allow your family to roam, play, picnic and enjoy an array of food and beverages that will be on sale.

3. Proceeds from the jazz festival go to Charity

The Safaricom Jazz Festival is a benefit concert and all ticket proceeds will go to the purchase of music instruments for the Ghetto Classics programme. Ghetto Classics is a community programme in Korogocho that teaches classical music to over 300 children.
