Georgie Ndirangu

We had a few questions for him and this is what he had to say:

1. What was your first phone?

The Sony Ericsson T210i. My ma promised to get it for me as a gift after I passed some exams (can’t remember how old I was). But she did, and I rubbed it in all the kids faces.

2. What do you prefer? Facebook or Twitter? Why?

Twitter. Definitely. Expressing yourself in less than or equal to 140 characters is an art.

3. Where do you see yourself in 5 years.

Back in Kenya, running 2DIE4 as Africa’s most radical PRINT magazine, living in a “white-interiored” house in a quiet and serene neighbourhood, learnt how to play golf, having a cute little daughter, and driving that Bentley. God speed.

4. Any question for us? We’ll publish our answer as well.

Why did you pick me for this Q&A?

We thought we’d give our readers some unique insight into what makes Georgie Ndirangu tick

5. What would you do if you were president for a day?

That’s a really hard one. I’m torn between giving myself a lifetime supply of the food & cocktails at Onami, and making sure kids never have to get on the streets to beg for food. The latter is quite sad really. I’d definitely go for that.

6. What’s your favourite book& movie?

Favorite book: The 48 laws of power.
Favorite movie: Lucky Number Slevin, The Words, American Gangster and Mr & Mrs Smith

7. Who/What inspired you to do what you do now?

My family, specially my ma has been my rock. She has been with me through all my hard-headedness, all my milestones, and failures. And trust me, I’ve had A LOT of those. Her and the people who constantly like my updates, my pics, my random musings, and chant me on even when I doubt myself, and correct me when I’m wrong but too hard-headed to admit it.

8. If you were to change jobs, what profession would you get into? Why?

It was a huge gamble shifting from Kenya to Rwanda. I was working at the Ministry of housing, and shifting from logistics and finance to media and media-related fields in Rwanda was just side-stepping and getting out of my zone.
So, if I was to change, I’d probably do finance full time. Because numbers do things to me

9. If you had a superpower, what would it be?

Going back in time. I can’t even count on one hand the number of times I’ve wanted to go back JUST a few minutes back, or JUST a few years back to fix something I would otherwise have handled differently after I saw how it turned out.

10. If you were deserted on an abandoned island what 5 things would you want to have?

  • My iPhone
  • A charger for my iPhone
  • My twitter account
  • Mrs Ndirangu
  • A conference call with my family every evening

11. If you were a car, what car would you like to be? Why?

That, hands down, would be the Bentley Continental GT.
Why? Because I have a nice interior (I once got an x-ray that my doctor called “DIFFERENT”. Ofcourse he meant good-looking) and a cocky, powerful, almost arrogant exterior. (Or atleast I like to think that.)

12. If you could be in any other band in the world, which one would you like to be in? Why?

First of all, and probably a bit embarrassing to admit, but about a year or so back, I recorded myself playing the recorder (let’s say the flute), and actually EMAILED it to Swedish House Mafia.

13. What’s the weirdest comment someone has ever made about your fashion sense?

A friend of mine called Meddy saw a ‘polka-dotted” shirt I got a while back, then said “WHICH MAN WITH FUNCTIONAL MALE GENITALIA WEARS POLKA DOTS??”
Ofcourse he did apologize after we refused to let him play video games and eat food at the house, but weeks later when the trend started catching on, he sent a text saying “Hey, fat face, polka dots are not as bad.”

I’ll never let him forget that.

Ok, Here’s Georgie in a quick minute

Methinks Ellen DeGeneres , Kevin Hart, and Kristen Wiig (Saturday Night Live) are the funniest people alive.I have an unaffordable fetish for Watches, colognes and phones. Family means the world to me.I’m afraid of marriage.

I got turned down one day on entry level to become a pilot at Kenya Airways, and I swore on my life that I would have my own plane. <<– Mark these words.

I have no idea how my life would be if God was not in it. Don’t even want to think about it.

My daily mantra: In a world where only the best survive, you have to stand out to fit in.
