Barclays Bank Kenya yesterday launched the ReadytoWork programme, a free online resource website that will help prepare college and university graduates for the job market.

The website has 4 modules i.e. work skills, people skills, money skills and entrepreneurial skills. The modules will offer certificate courses and even though it mainly targets students it is also appropriate for persons of all ages interested bettering themselves in any of the four areas. A interesting feature of the programme is that is also imparts skills to those who would like to start their own businesses.

Once the students have successfully completed the ReadytoWork curriculum, they will get a certificate of completion. The certificate can be printed and the course added to their CV. They will also have the opportunity to apply for work exposure within Barclays or one of our partners for a few days

The launch of the ReadytoWork programme is timely especially because the number of people graduating every year is pretty high which makes competition for available jobs pretty high. Also, Kenyan tertiary institutions have been unable to impart certain soft skills to their students. An example here is CV writing and basic communication etiquette.

To use the ReadytoWork resources, one needs to go to readytowork.barclays and register an account.
