Just A Band announced yesterday that they are going on a two year hiatus. The band, which is comprised of Bill ‘Blinky Bill’ Sellanga, Mbithi Masya and Daniel Muli has been active since 2008 and now they want to take a break so that they concentrate on their individual projects.

Just A Band has three albums, Scratch to reveal (2008), 82 (2009) and Sorry for the Delay (2012).

The individual projects that we can expect from the Just A Band members include:

Bill Sellanga aka Blinky Bill

  • First solo album that’s coming out later this year tentatively titled “Everyone’s Just Winging It & Other Fly Tales
  • Art experiments for the Dakar Bienalle this year
  • New monthly show on RBMA Radio.

Daniel Muli aka Nairobidhobi

Mbithi Masya aka Ricky Suede

  • Launching his first feature length film KatiKati later this year.

As a going on hiatus present, Just A Band is offering three things to its fans.

1. Video art exhibition at Goethe Institut – free entry

Just A Band will host their third video art exhibition, PERSPECTIVE, at the Goethe Institut on Friday 8th April 2016. The exhibition is focused on stories told through the first person narrative. The event will celebrate the exhibition as well as the work of Just A Band in general.

2. Blankets and wine – The Aloe Blacc Show – Ksh. 3,000 in advance

Just A Band will perform at The Aloe Blacc Show on Sunday April 10th at the Ngong Racecourse. The event will also feature Aloe Blacc, Mayonde and (Blankets Founder) Muthoni the Drummer Queen.

3. New song – Kids These Days

Just A band have left with a new song called Kids These Days which is from what was going to be the fourth album. It’s unclear when (or if) the album is going to be released.
